The Three Little Tamales
by

Eric A. Kimmel

Age Range: 6 - 8 years
Grade Level: 1st - 3rd
As I was resting in the shade during a recent dig in Texas, an old abuelita whispered an exciting tale into my ear:  It seems that three little tamales had once run away from town to escape the always-hungry SeƱor Lobo, the Big Bad Wolf!   Now I ask you: Why would anyone want to eat such good little tamales?!

Join me in a dig to unearth the houses of these three little tamales from Laredo to discover if they escaped this time around in an amusing retelling of the classic children's fairy-tale of the Three Little Pigs.

Docampo’s oil-on-paper illustrations add dimension to the story and bring the three little tamales to life. An excellent addition to collections of fairy-tale retellings. Grades K-3. --Shauna Yusko Booklist Online © 2015 Booklist Publications

From Kirkus Review
“I’ll huff and I’ll puff / like a Texas tornado / and blow your casita / from here to Laredo!” A glossary helps readers unfamiliar with Spanish, although most words are defined in context. . . .A flavorful addition to the folktale shelf that begs to be shared with a group.
